Questions about visitor and tourist visas
What does a 214(b) refusal mean?
It means the officer was not satisfied you had shown strong enough ties to your home country to overcome the legal presumption that every visitor visa applicant intends to immigrate. It is not a ban and you may reapply, but reapplying without a material change in circumstances usually produces the same result.
Can someone attend the US visa interview with me?
No. The interview is conducted with the applicant alone, apart from interpreters and companions permitted for minors or applicants with disabilities. Our preparation happens before the appointment, not at it.
